Complete all courses under this agreement within a total of 12 months, which must not take place consecutively. Under the agreement, doctoral students can take courses required for their program of study at another western Canadian university that are not available at their home institution. The Western Deans` Agreement Authorization Form is available on the Western Canada Deans of Graduate Studies (WCDGS) website. The student will return the completed form to the SGS office or email it to sgs@uleth.ca. It is important to inquire with the host institution about any regulations for courses that may be excluded from the agreement and to inquire about the additional costs that will be assessed by the host institution. Under the terms of the Western Deans Agreement, completed forms must be received by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at the University of British Columbia at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the enrolment period at the University of British Columbia. If a form is not received and approved in a timely manner, the student may not receive permission to take the course. In addition, the fee waiver is not available retroactively. Ask your home institution to complete and send your Western Canadian Dean`s Agreement Authorization Form to Royal Roads University well in advance of the course start date(s). Each university has its own regulations regarding the maximum number of transfer credits allowed in a particular program of study.
Students must ensure that their applications are within these limits. However, you may have to pay another fee to your host institution: after a conversation with your program manager, complete the downloadable authorization form and return to Royal Roads University for approval. A list of participating institutions can be found on the website of the Dean of Graduate Studies for Western Canada. Students who wish to take a course at Royal Roads University under the Western Canadian Dean`s Agreement must submit their completed Western Canadian Dean Authorization Form to Royal Roads University at least two weeks prior to the start date of the course they wish to take. . Students may be asked to pay student, activity, application or other incidental fees to the host institution, in accordance with the general guidelines applicable to the host institution. Where possible, these fees are also waived. Students may not apply for a fee waiver under the terms of this Agreement for a total period of more than 12 months. .
